Free Pride Rainbow Bunting Knitting Pattern
To celebrate Pride month, I've created a set of rainbow bunting inspired by the colours of various Pride flags and hung it across my Red Brick market stall. I believe that craft should be accessible and inclusive to everyone and that everyone is always welcome at my studio and craft stalls.
Join me at a charity workshop in June making these Pride rainbows!
This pattern is based on my mini rainbow pattern that I released during the pandemic. This time I've added each flag to a piece of cord to create bunting, which I've displayed on my Redbrick stall. I'm also working on a range of big Pride rainbows, which I'll be releasing later in the month!
YARN:
For my rainbows I used pack of Scheepjes Stone Washed and River Washed Yarns. This box has 58 shades of sport weight yarn. Each ball is only 10g so it's super cute and as these rainbows use such little yarn it's perfect! I didn't use every shade in the box, but I'll be saving the colours I didn't use for other mini projects.
If using Scheepjes Stone Washed use 3.5mm (US 4) needles. Alternatively, this is a great project for using up all your stash and you can knit them on DK yarn using 4mm (US 6) needles.
As I've include every row in the pattern, this project also scales up or down easily. You can use any yarn and the recommended needle size on the ball band.
COLOURS:
I've tried my best to match the colours of each pride flag to the shades in my Scheepjes box. I've written the colours changes in each pattern under the name colour of the flag, not the shade of the yarn.
TENSION:
Follow the tension as stated on the ball band of your yarn.
ABBREVIATIONS:
K Knit
K2tog Knit 2 stitches together, decreasing from two to one stitch
SKP Slip a stitch, knit a stitch, pass the slipped stitch over. Decreasing from two to one stitch

FLAGS:
I've published 20 rainbows inspired by various Pride Flags so far and have more to come. I have knitted the flags that use horizontal stripes and have not included flags with symbols (apart from the intersex flag).
