Mini Octopus

If you've made it to this page, you'd like to knit my Mini Octopus! You may have picked up a kit at a knitting show or ordered one online, or perhaps you'd just like to make a smaller one than the big guy in the pattern! The mini octopus can be seen below in the bright purple yarn:

Firstly, the pattern for both the mini octopus and the giant one are exactly the same! Follow the knitting pattern in Under the Sea using a finer weight of yarn and the accompanying needle size stated on the ball band. It doesn't say this in the book as there's wasn't enough space to include it. You can use any weight of yarn and accompanying needle size to scale your octopus up or down as every row has been included.

BOBBLE STITCH ERRATA
Unfortunately, it's come to my attention that there's a small bobble stitch errata in the instruction section of Under the Sea (page 6). I'm gutted it's slipped through proofreading and am sending a new batch to print now with the corrections. I've been including a note in all the books sent out with the corrections. The photos are correct, however steps 1-3 were repeated in the place of steps 4-6. Here's a screenshot of the update and the written instructions are included below:

1. Follow these steps for every BB (big bobble). Work to the stitch you need to BB. The first step is to Kfbf. Knit into the front, back and front again, increasing 1 stitch to 3.

2. TURN the work so the wrong side is facing you, then purl the 3 stitches created by the Kfbf in step 1. Only purl these 3 stitches, leave all other stitches unworked.

3. TURN the work again, so the right side is facing you. Then *Kfb* three times, increasing the 3 stitches to 6 stitches. Leave all other stitches unworked.

4. TURN the work so the wrong side is facing you, then purl the 6 stitches created by the *Kfb* in step 3. Only purl these 6 stitches, leave all other stitches unworked.

5. TURN the work so the right side is facing you. *K2tog* three times, decreasing the 6 stitches to 3 stitches. TURN the work again and P the 3 stitches.

6. TURN the work again, so the right side is facing you. Then K3tog, decreasing the 3 stitches to 1 stitch. This finishes the big bobble.

Happy knitting,

Louise
